Local students Amelie, Lottie and Tara who are about to head into their final year of high school have just completed a week’s work experience in the Kellas Aberdeen office, getting a glimpse into career opportunities in the energy sector.
We were really impressed with their enthusiasm and interest in our business and industry, and members of our team spent time with them sharing insights into different roles at Kellas.
Their positive attitudes shone throughout the week and we wish them every success for the future.
Here’s what they thought of the experience:
Amelie: “I had a really great time during my week of work experience at Kellas. The team were all very welcoming and friendly towards me and the other girls. Throughout the week we were given many opportunities to talk and learn about what various teams inside the business get up to. I think that this was super helpful in deciding on my next steps after school as I got amazing insight into different career paths in a real-life working environment. We were also given the chance to complete mock interview sessions with the HR team – we learned about and discussed many beneficial skills used on both sides of an interview, afterwards putting those skills to practice and receiving detailed feedback that I personally found extremely helpful. I am so grateful for the many opportunities that had been set up for me during my short time here. My overall experience has been very valuable and I gained so many new skills. Thank you so much Kellas!”
Lottie: “The week I spent at Kellas was generally and genuinely a wonderful experience. The work environment they have created in the office is exceptionally friendly and welcoming. Over the course of the week, we got to meet with different members of the Kellas team and were provided with tasks to do from the legal, economic and marketing departments. We also received some interview training with HR. I really enjoyed the projects from the various departments as it gave me some insight into what these jobs look like, especially the legal project as I plan on studying law. The time and attention we got from the Kellas team was invaluable, and it didn’t go unnoticed how many people were willing to give up their time to meet with us and tell us about their role. It was such a brilliant week and gave me a vast amount of new knowledge and experience that will help me in the world of work and higher education.”
Tara: “I really enjoyed my week of work experience at Kellas and I am so grateful for the opportunity. Everybody was so kind and helpful and hearing about the different aspects and roles within the company was so interesting. My favourite part of the week was completing the projects, in particular the one about economics as it allowed me to learn more about the topic and develop my skills when using software such as Excel. The variety of different tasks and activities was so engaging and the chance to participate in the interview training with the HR team was invaluable. This week has confirmed to me and made me feel confident that a career in Finance/Economics is what I am aiming for. Thank you to everybody who organised this week and gave up their time to make it so special.”
