Energy Minister Michael Shanks MP visits Kellas stand at OEUK Conference

It was a busy day at yesterday’s OEUK Conference 2024 at P&J Live in Aberdeen. This year’s theme ‘Powering Our Energy Future’ focused on security of supply, sustainable practices and the essential skills needed for the future.

Our CEO Nathan Morgan presented in the ‘Decarbonisation in Action’ session, talking about natural gas in the energy transition and how the road to decarbonisation can be accelerated at scale with low carbon CCUS-enabled blue hydrogen production.

Energy Minister Michael Shanks MP was also speaking at the event, and dropped by the Kellas stand to discuss the vital role Kellas plays in maintaining the UK’s energy security by safely transporting and processing around 40% of UK-produced gas from the North Sea.

We also discussed the critical role of CCUS-enabled blue hydrogen in scaling up production, and how our H2NorthEast project on Teesside will unlock over £2bn of investment in a 1GW low carbon hydrogen production facility representing 10% of the UK’s 2030 hydrogen production capacity target.
