A group from Kellas took a trip to Cumbria this week for a day’s hazard awareness and risk management training at DNV’s Spadeadam testing and research facility.
Given the nature of what we do and the paramount importance of safety, this was an opportunity for people from across our business to learn about and gain first-hand experience of major accident hazards. We were able to see and feel the effects of fires, explosions and detonations simulated in real-world environments relevant to Kellas.
The day consisted of a mix of classroom learning and outside demonstrations to give us an appreciation of the speed and ferocity of major accident hazards in the context of hydrocarbon and infrastructure.
The group found the session fascinating and worthwhile, and it certainly opened everyone’s eyes to the work that our operations and process safety teams do.
Huge thanks to the DNV team for creating such an interesting and engaging day for us, and to Steph Scott for facilitating the day.
