On Saturday 24 August, a team of cycling enthusiasts from Kellas completed the 2024 Ride the North – an event that started in 2011 with just 37 participants, and has become one of the key cycling events in the North East Scotland calendar.
This year’s ride was a single day event
starting and finishing in Arbroath, with 70 and 100 mile route options, each
taking the cyclists through stunning scenery and local landmarks around the
Angus area.
Sarah Anderson from our finance team said: “It
was a great route with beautiful scenery, some challenging hills and tricky weather
conditions, but that hasn’t put me off doing it again! The day was really well
organised with great support from all the towns and villages we passed through.”
Dan Campion from our H2NorthEast team said: “It
was one of the toughest yet rewarding physical challenges I have been part of
and a truly unforgettable experience. We covered 100 miles with a 6,864ft in elevation
and were in the saddle for more than eight hours. I'm not sure if I'll ever
look at a hill the same way again!”
Team Kellas raised over £2,000 for Friends of Anchor – congratulations to all our cyclists. We were also delighted to be on of the event sponsors.
