Kellas has today published its annual Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) report for 2024.
The report demonstrates our continued company-wide commitment to the safe, responsible, sustainable and ethical operation of our gas infrastructure which transports and processes around 40% of all UK produced gas, and is critical to the UK’s energy security.
It also highlights our ESG commitment within our clean energy projects like H2NorthEast on Teesside, where we are investing in new infrastructure that will supply low carbon hydrogen for large-scale decarbonisation of key UK industrial heartlands.
Here are just some of the achievements and initiatives detailed in the report:
• Reduction in our overall carbon emissions by around 16%
• Zero Scope 2 emissions
• 100% waste recycled, reused or recovered
• Zero lost time incidents at CATS for 22nd year in a row
• Ongoing emissions reduction and energy efficiency initiatives at CATS
• Successful CATS 8-yearly full system shutdown
• Front end engineering and design completion for H2NorthEast
• Continued progress in biodiversity at CATS terminal
• Above-target average ESG training hours achieved per employee
• Stress and wellbeing awareness training and support
• Three more students joined the Kellas Midstream clean energy scholarship programme at Teesside University
• Financial and volunteering support for our partner charities
Nathan Morgan, Kellas CEO, said: “We are continuing to make significant strides year on year towards integrating ESG principles into all parts of our business, and I am immensely proud of the commitment shown by each member of our team. Our vision is to be a leading low carbon infrastructure owner and operator, and to achieve this we will invest strategically, work closely with our partners and stakeholders, and engage local communities to benefit our shareholders and wider society.”
