Yesterday, a group from Kellas spent a very productive and enjoyable day volunteering with the Compass Project in Aberdeen which is part of the Camphill Wellbeing Trust, one of our partner charities.
Our team got stuck into a wide range of gardening activities to support Compass’ aim of creating an inclusive space that can engage the local community and help people improve their health, maintain wellbeing and explore a sustainable lifestyle.
From varnishing volunteer cabins and making frames for beans and peas, to weeding and netting strawberry beds, planting beetroots and harvesting lettuces, as well as getting creative by painting slate signs that will be used around the site – we packed a lot into the day!
We are supporting Camphill as part of our commitment to corporate social responsibility that focuses on education, community engagement and people.
Camphill is a Scottish charity supporting the wellbeing of patients and their families through an integrated, person-centred approach to health, education and social care, focusing on learning disabilities, young people’s health, chronic conditions and residential therapeutic packages.
This was our third consecutive year volunteering at Compass and it was great to see the continued progress being made in developing the site, using sustainable building practices and producing nutritious food through organic and biodynamic land use.
See what we got up to below...
